And Baby Makes Seven is a lighthearted workby the Pulitzer-Prize winning playwright Paula Vogel. This quirky allegory follows the struggle to find the balance between the reality of parenthood and fantasy of childhood. Although Anna is the expectant mother of her gay roommate Peter’s child, she and her lesbian lover Ruth are living half of their lives as fantasy child characters; Cecil the boy genius, Henri a French troublemaker, and Orphan who was raised by wild dogs. With the arrival of the baby nearing, Peter requests that the “children” go away, in hopes of a more normal life for the family.
