Ballet Theatre of New Mexico
Believing that a solid base for a professional company would be created by the quality dance training and pre-professional experience offered to its young dancers, Ballet Theatre of New Mexico began in the fall of 1989 with the creation of its Junior Company. By the fall of 1991, Ballet Theatre produced its first Senior Company production, "A Victorian Christmas". In 1996, Ballet Theatre announced its first full season that included the full-length production of "The Nutcracker". Since that time, Ballet Theatre's repertory has grown to include a richly varied selection of pieces - from great 18th and 19th century classical ballets to contemporary masterpieces of today - that demonstrate the expertise and versatility of each individual dancer.
