Civic Cinema Vote
Posted March 16th, 2008 by cherie_pits
Civic Cinema To cast your vote for the films you would like to see this summer at Civic Cinema, please vote. The top five films receiving the highest number of votes will be shown on the big screen this summer. Final results will be posted on April 18, 2008. What is Civic Cinema? Remember the good old days when movies were known as films and not blockbusters? When movie stars made the news for their acting, not their misbehaving? When "special effects" were mechanically fabricated or filmed with camera tricks, not created in a computer? When a family outing to a movie was a big deal to all involved?
Mayor Martin J. Chávez, the Cultural Services Department and the Parks & Recreation Department proudly present Civic Cinema, an outdoor film series featuring five free classic films from days of yore. Offered on Friday evenings, folks can come out to Harry E. Kinney Civic Plaza and watch a classic film under the stars, on a giant picture screen. Start popping that popcorn and please plan to join us on June 20, June 27, July 18, July 25, and August 1, 2008. Movies will start at approximately 8:30 pm.
