About:

Begin in Catalonia and follow the coast into France, curving through fishing villages, farming communities, wild lands where white horses run free and huge black bulls are bred for fighting. Nearby stand the ancient cities of Perpignan, Montpellier and Arles. This is fertile terrain, fought over across millennia, home to Roman aqueducts and amphitheatres, once host to Cezanne, Van Gogh and Gauguin, long renowned for fine wines and fierce people. And today the region's celebrated as the land of Gipsy Kings.

The Gipsy Kings are that rare thing - a household name famous solely for their music; the most successful French musical outfit ever are big in Brazil and popular (extremely so) in Persia, honoured at The Alamo in Texas and celebrated in China. All this achieved without MTV videos, hype, reality TV appearances, famous girlfriends, bad behaviour... an international audience won over purely by the music and the big, welcoming soulfulness of its creators. That's no ordinary achievement. Understandably, the Gipsy Kings are extraordinary characters: to play guitar and sing is something their fathers, grandfathers and ancestors did. The Gipsy Kings make music as communion, artistry rooted in the past yet focused on the future.

About:

In the three years since Or Music introduced Los Lonely Boys to fans around the world, everything has changed for the unique and gutsy musical hermanos from West Texas. And yet, nothing has. Sacred, Los Lonely Boys' eagerly awaited second album, both continues and expands upon the trio's self-titled debut, with its deeply personal and stunning fusion of electric blues and Texas roots, of soulful grooves and good old-fashioned rock'n'roll, of searing six-string licks and Latin beats. "New times, new songs, new rhythms," says frontman Henry Garza. "But it's still basically, Los Lonely Boys."

Working once again with producer John Porter (Keb' Mo, Ryan Adams, B.B. King) at good friend willie&henryWillie Nelson's Pedernales Studios, the band recorded Sacred with the euphoria of their debut's success—over two million copies sold, a Grammy for the monster single "Heaven—still fresh. But if the brothers' heads were sometimes spinning, their feet stayed on the ground. From the plainspoken humility and achey-sweet guitar of album-opener "Diamonds" to the funky, chunky "Oye Mamacita" to the cinematic credo "Outlaws," Los Lonely Boys have delivered not just 13 extraordinary songs, but 13 affirmations of what they feel is truly Sacred: being yourself, being true to God and family, and being true to music… "Texican Style."

"Texican rock'n'roll man, that's just three brothers making up a name," Henry says. At 28, the singer and guitarist is the oldest Lonely Boy; middle child Jo Jo, 26, plays bass, while 24 year-old Ringo is the man behind the drums. "It's willie nelson just a mixture of everything we've learned: conjunto music from our father, Richie Valens, Stevie Ray, Willie. All the music that we've gathered… Fats santanaDomino, Santana, Skynyrd." This is a variation on what Henry likes to call "the musical burrito theory," and while his brothers wish he would retire the analogy because of overuse, it's a metaphor with broad descriptive power. The U.S. in 2006 is more of a stuffed-together and deliciously diverse burrito than an assimilated melting pot or well-ordered gorgeous mosaic, and Los Lonely Boys are not just a Texican rock'n'roll band, but a great American rock'n'roll band.

About:

In 1969, singer, guitarist and songwriter Tom Johnston and drummer John Hartman formed the nucleus of what would become The Doobie Brothers. Skip Spence of Moby Grape (formerly of Jefferson Airplane) introduced them to one another after Hartman arrived in California determined to meet Spence and join an aborted Grape reunion. New bandmates Johnston and Hartman called their fledgling group Pud and experimented with different lineups and styles as they performed in and around San Jose. They were briefly a power trio, and briefly worked with a horn section. In 1970, they teamed up with bass player Dave Shogren and singer, guitarist and songwriter Patrick Simmons. Simmons, who had belonged to several area groups and also performed as a solo artist, was already an accomplished fingerstyle player whose approach to the instrument complemented Johnston's rhythmic R&B strumming. In a recent interview, Tom Johnston attributed the band's eventual name to friend and housemate Keith "Dyno" Rosen, who considered it an improvement over Pud.

Peter Frampton continued to release albums on a semi-annual basis throughout the 1980s. Today, his music continues to be much loved

About:
Trisha Yearwood has been hailed as “one of the finest interpretive singers ever” by Entertainment Weekly. She has been saluted as “among the best vocalists currently working in any genre” by The Tennessean. CD Review calls her simply, “Nashville’s uber-vocalist.”

She has a full-bodied, muscular voice with bulls-eye tonal control, wide-open volume and dynamic range. But what Trisha Yearwood possesses goes far beyond pitch and technique. Hers is an instrument of uncommon emotional resonance, a voice that makes lyrics glow with believability, that gives them a beating heart. It is a voice of rapture and wonder.
