KiMo Theatre
Location(s)
The KiMo is a unique 1927 Pueblo Deco style vaudeville and movie theatre and registered Historic Landmark. It is owned by the City of Albuquerque and operated for the citizens of the community by the Cultural Services Department.
The KiMo Theatre is an architectural gem, the "King of its kind". Hundreds of tourists visit the KiMo each year to view its elaborate Pueblo Indian ornamentation and the famous Von Hassler murals. Renovated and reopened to the public in 2000, the KiMo boasts restored artwork in the theatre auditorium and lavish reconstructions of the original proscenium arch and main curtain that return the KiMo to its Picture Palace Era grandeur. Free tours of the building are available.
The KiMo Theatre is a vibrant part of Albuquerque's performing arts community and hosts a wide variety of local, national and international events. Dance, drama, film, comedy, performance art, multi-media events, and other unique performances all take place on the KiMo stage. Additionally, the KiMo houses an exhibit space for contemporary visual artists.
The theatre may be rented for the presentation of your performing arts event, movie screenings, business meetings and private functions.
