NMSO A Musical Feast w/ Rachel Barton Pine
Posted August 27th, 2007 by cherie_pits
A MUSICAL FEAST Superlatives are inadequate to describe Pine's playing: Her intonation is perfect, her facility seems limitless, and her sound is always beautiful; but what may be most special about her artistry is the sensation of fleeting emotions as she responds to the music's every nuance. - Mark Arnest, The (Colorado Springs) Gazette
With extravagant musical complexity, Walton's masterful 1931 oratorio (based on a text appearing in both the Tanakh and the book of Daniel) tells a story of triumph over oppression and justice for the exiled.
Performers Guillermo Figueroa, conductor NMSO Chorus, Roger Melone, director Rachel Barton Pine, violin
Program Mendelssohn, Hebrides Overture, "Fingal's Cave"Saint-Saens, Violin Concerto No. 3 Walton, Belshazzar's Feast
