STEVE POLTZ * PO' GIRL at The Cooperage
This event has been moved to The Cooperage.

Steve Poltz co-wrote the longest-running song on the Billboard Top 100 (Jewel's "You Were Meant for Me"), had a debut solo album that earned three and a half stars in Rolling Stone, and was awarded the title of San Diego's Most Influential Artist of the Decade at the San Diego Music Awards. Poltz, one of the most engaging, twisted, and prolific songwriters of our time, has cultivated his reminiscences into a heartbreakingly gorgeous collection of songs for his new album, Traveling.
Fellow San Diegans the Truckee Brothers will be opening the show. The Truckee Brothers formed in San Diego in the Summer of 2003 to play a single show. That was the plan. Somewhere along the way 91X FM in San Diego began playing their song, "Death Vulcan Grip", and in Spring 2004 an EP was released and a band was born and showed surprising longevity. The North County Times (San Diego) said of their latest album, Double Happiness: "With so many of these songs having seductive little melodic hooks that get stuck in your head, the combination of great playing and intriguing arrangements makes Double Happiness nearly impossible to get out of your CD player."
Joining Steve and preforming a full set is Vancouver's Po' Girl. One of our favorite bands, Po' Girl is known for their unique arrangements, clever songs and joyful performances. Their sound is timeless and timely; these women are urban minstrels for the twenty-first century. All Music Guide called their latest album, Home To You, "a layered, insightful, and achingly poignant triumph."
